Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro Hidden Features, Tips and Tricks
In
this segment of the article, we will explain some amazing features and
tricks your Redmi Note 5 Pro comes with and how to master it while you
read our listings.
So lets us begin…
1. Fullscreen Mode
One
of the significant addition, Xiaomi came up with its latest Redmi Note 5
Pro, is its beautiful Full-HD 18:9 Display and hence enables the
full-screen mode for all the installed application on the phone. The
best part is you can also disable the fullscreen compatibility for any
app running on the device to view it in 16:9 aspect ratio.
To enable the fullscreen mode, go to Settings -> Additional Settings -> Button and Gesture Shortcuts -> Fullscreen Mode

After
enabling this mode, it stretches the apps to a native 18:9 screen
ration which does not support the mode instead of showing blank black
space on the screen. You can also toggle to enable/disable it for each app under this mode.
2. Enable EIS on Camera
Talking
about the cameras in the mid-range phones, the Redmi Note 5 Pro has the
best camera feature and specs. With the inclusion of dual-camera setup,
the device manages to capture great shots and video in its segment.
However, one of the most important features EIS to stabilize images and
videos was missing when the phone was initially launched. However, with
the later OTA updates, Xiaomi has brought the most asked feature and to
enable Electronic Image Stabilization in Redmi Note 5 Pro.

Head over to Video Mode in Camera Application and tap on the menu button on the top-right corner and tap on Settings.

Search for the Image Stabilization option under Video Settings and toggle to enable/disable it and you are ready to take shots without any blurs.
3. Front Camera Portrait Mode
With
the trending portrait modes, Xiaomi has also dived into one but with
the Front Camera of Redmi Note 5 Pro. Its camera comes with the inbuilt
portrait mode for the front camera which blurs everything in the
background of the object.
However, to enable that in the front camera you need Open the Camera App and switch to front camera mode in the Photo Mode.

Now, you will see a person icon at the center of the top bar.
Clicking on that enables the portrait mode or depth effect called by
Xiaomi. Moreover, photos clicked using this mode will have blurred
background, focusing only on the object or the person and resulting in a
portrait image.
4. Remember last used Settings
If
you use your phone’s camera more often to shoot selfies, videos, and
pictures. However, closing the app after using the camera, it resets
back to the default mode in the background. However, to remove the
struggle to choose the mode everytime you open the app, you can enable
to remember the last used settings and forget the problem on Redmi Note 5
Pro.
To enable it, head over to Camera Settings and toggle to enable/disable Save the previous mode option and now everytime you open your camera app, you will the same mode you closed the app at.
5. Enhance Low-Light Photos
Capturing
low-light images with the mid-range mobile phones can be frustrating as
they do not result to be of any use. However, to let the user come out
of the problem and deliver the best results from its Dual-Camera Setup,
Xiaomi has come with an option to Enhance low-light images while you use
its camera Automatically.
Moreover, to enable the feature go to the Camera Settings and search for Enhance lowlight photos automatically option under camera tab. This feature in the phone makes sure you get the best possible low-light image quality.
6. Second Space
Lots
of people including me are concerned about their phone’s privacy and
never wishes to share the phone or its storage with anyone. Similarly,
the second space feature on Redmi Note 5 Pro enables you to add a user to your phone
just like you use it on a Windows PC. This feature thus creates a guest
account for anyone, e.g. your roommate or partner or anyone you do not
want to share your data with. However, you also get to choose to share
common data for both the spaces.
If you want to use the Second Space head to Settings -> Second Space -> Click on Turn on Second Space.

You
will find the second space option under System & Device tab.
Moreover, switching between spaces is also easy through the notification
shade to Secondary Space and by using Switch button to primary space.
7. Quick Reply and Notification Management
As
we know, the Redmi Note 5 Pro is running on MIUI 9.2 based on Android
Nougat and thus inherits tons of its features including quick reply and
managing your notifications in a better way. With quick reply, you can
quickly reply to your messages by just sliding down the notification bar
and send it without even opening the respective app.
Also with nougat’s inbuilt notification filtering which groups the notification together based on its importance. This features groups the unimportant notifications under the single column and mutes it.
8. App Vault/Shelf and Quick Ball
Indian
market is one of the most successful markets for Xiaomi due to which
they have launched a new Indian Market-oriented feature and is promised
to continue that in future. With MIUI 9 Xiaomi has brought a new App
Vault feature on the Redmi Note 5 Pro. Using this shelf which is available when you swipe left from the home screen, you can access your favorite or essential applications right on the screen using their widgets.

Another feature added by Xiaomi for a better assistant to their user, Quick Ball
is also brought on the Redmi Note 5 Pro. It is the assistant similar to
found on the iPhones or iPads as Assistive Touch and provides you an interface on every screen to control your phone.

To enable it head over to Settings -> Additional Settings -> Quick Ball and toggle to enable/disable it by clicking on Turn on Quick Ball. Moreover, the best part is you can also customize each according to your usage.
9. Navigation Bar & Gestures
Xiaomi
with Redmi Note 5 Pro has given most of the freedom to their users to
customize their phone the way they like and now feature to allow
customization of the navigation buttons is no less. Yes, you read that
right now you can directly customize your Navigation Bar and to do that
go to Settings -> Additional Settings -> Button and gesture shortcuts and choose Screen Buttons option. Under that, you can also toggle on Mirror Buttons to swap positions of new and back buttons. Below that you will have another option to Hide Soft Buttons, you can toggle it to enable/disable to hide the navigation bar when you are not using it.

Under the same option, you can also setup your desired gestures on your phone to open and use specific applications right from your lock screen
including screenshots, camera, torch and more. Gestures are very
convenient to use your most used applications right from the lock
screen. To customize or enable gestures head over to Button and gesture shortcuts under settings and choose your gesture under Functional Shortcuts.
10. One-Handed Mode
For
few the Redmi Note 5 Pro, could be huge to handle and use with a single
hand but worry not as Xiaomi has given another feature to let you use
it the way you like. On the Redmi Note 5 Pro, Xiaomi has brought this
feature for the users with the small hands or for the one who may find
the 5.99-inch display big.

To enable this mode head over to Settings -> Additional Settings -> One-Handed Mode.

Once you toggle it to enable it, you can choose the screen size you like from 3.5 to 4.5 inches. Also, if you swipe left or right after the enabling the mode, the screen will come closer to the respective side.
11. Dual Apps & Split Screen
Using
more than one app on a single device is not possible even when you have
a dual-SIM phone. Well, Xiaomi has the solution for you, with MIUI 9
you can use this feature to create two accounts of an app on the same device
like WhatsApp (if you want to use it from on both of your numbers),
Facebook (if you have more than Facebook Account), and same with other
social media app. This feature makes managing multiple accounts efficiently and works similar to the original app.
Utilizing the big 5.99-inch screen
the right way is always an advantage, and the split-screen multitasking
is one the feature. Using split-screen feature on big display phone
like on the Redmi Note 5 Pro makes things a lot easier for everyone.
Moreover, to use it you need not head over anywhere, just tap on the Recent button and you will see the Split Screen option on the top left of the screen, just tap on it, and you are good to go.

Once you select the option, the screen splits into two screens and lets you interact with two apps at a time.
12. Advanced Gallery Feature
With
a great camera, the device should be coupled with the perfect companion
apps and with MIUI 9, Xiaomi has brought many changes in its Gallery
App. The Redmi Note 5 Pro running on MIUI 9 based on Android Nougat
7.1.1 has the advanced gallery which comes with tons of features to either tweak your app or to find out its EXIF details.

On MIUI 9 Gallery, you can efficiently manage your media files and create animations and collages using right from the app. Also, it allows you erase the unwanted objects from photos in the background to make your shot look apart.
13. Face Unlock
With
the latest MIUI update v9.2.4, Xiaomi has managed to bring the
much-hyped feature to the Redmi Note 5 Pro. Yes, you guessed that right,
we are talking about unlocking your phone just by looking at it using your face.
In this latest OTA update, you get the option to unlock your device
using your face data stored in the device. However, we do not agree that
it is as secure as the fingerprint reader but sure is very
convenient to everyone without reaching out to the back of your phone to
unlock it when you can only look at it and rest is done by its front
camera setup.

However,
the Redmi Note 5 Pro is the first phone from Xiaomi to have this
unlocking feature and is claimed to authenticate your face and unlocks
your device in mere 0.2 seconds.
So once you update your phone to latest MIUI version 9.2.4, activate your Face Unlock by heading over to Settings -> Lock Screen & password -> Face Unlock and scan your face to store the face data.
14. Lock Screen Enhancement
You
will not find many changes and will look similar to previous edition
devices at first glance. However, it is not what it looks like as in the
MIUI 9; you get few enhancements right on the lock screen. When you swipe left from your lock screen, it will directly take you to the camera and allows you to capture all the beautiful and natural shots without a hassle.

Also, when you swipe right from the lock screen, it will take you to the never before seen page with all the Xiaomi devices connected to your phone like Mi Remote or the Mi Home. Below that you will also see a torch button to toggle right from the lock screen and adds excellent ease whenever you need it.
15. 4K Recording
With
everyday growing tech, we want every feature possible on our devices no
matter we use it or not, but we want it right on our phones. So when
the Redmi Note 5 Pro was launched, missing 4K recording feature was much
talked about.
Finally, Xiaomi has listened to its users’ demand and has brought the feature to record videos in 4K on your Redmi Note 5 Pro with the latest update.
Now,
you can effortlessly record your favorite moments in 4K resolution in
the video mode. To modify your default video settings to 4K, open the
camera app and switch to Video Mode. Later, head to Settings -> Video Quality -> Choose 4K recording option.
